Spring Decorating With D.I. Thrift Store Treasures

The last few days I've been bringing Spring into my house, even though it rained and hailed today. Several times, I've visited the Deseret Industries Thrift Store in Centerville and also in Layton on the hunt for a mirror to go over my sofa to bring more light into our family room. But alas I couldn't find the one I wanted, so I settled for a basic mirror from Home Goods for a decent price of $25.00. However, while at the D.I., I found the following treasures:

Two simple scroll-work candle holders for $1.50 each
which are now hanging on the sides of the mirror.
A 6 lb. pound bag of river pebbles for $2.00,
and two 1/2 gallon Ball canning jars for $1.50 each.
Isn't it cool how they reflect on the counter top?
I added some white flowers for this look.
This $1.50 Spring wreath went promptly on the front door.
It was in perfect condition.
This broken pot of flowers cost me $1.00.
I saved the flowers and tossed the pot.
I added pebbles to this square glass vase,
yellow flowers I already had,

and the white flowers from the broken pot
for this floral arrangement.
Though Punxsutawney Phil says spring won't come until March 15th, it's begun quite thriftily in this house.

  1. A friend of mine gave away her dinette set to her grandson (she's way too generous), so she needed a new table a chairs. I went to the D.I. in Centerville one morning on my way home from the temple. I found her the most gorgeous oak table and chairs! It was amazing! Her new dinette set is much more beautiful than the one she gave away. She also got a table cloth and vase of flowers and spent a whopping $35 for the whole shebang! She was triple blessed for her generosity!
